Quality Family Care
Whether you need a new doctor because you’ve moved to the Denver community, your primary care physician has retired, or you’re unhappy with the care your current primary care physician is providing, there are a number of factors to consider when you’re looking for a primary care physician.
Primary care, or Family Care as many call it, is an essential element for healthy living. Every patient should have a primary care provider who helps them stay healthy, manage any chronic medical conditions, and assist with diagnosis and treatment of minor medical problems. The primary care provider and the clinic team will provide you and your family with information to help you stay healthy, and with vital preventive treatments such as well adult and child care, reproductive care, vaccines, and cancer screening. These providers can also refer you to specialists when needed.
A primary care physician practitioner is qualified to care for the entire family. Our primary care physicians are board-certified and are trained Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and Internal Medicine. We treat medical concerns as they arise and also guide you to prevent and manage illness and disease. Developing a relationship with your Primary Care Physician can help prevent illnesses or keep them under control.
Our Family Medicine and Internal Medicine groups strive to provide comprehensive medical care while treating every patient with dignity and respect. We sit down and talk with our patients and provide each one with ample opportunity to discuss their medical concerns. We see patients for many types of medical concerns and treat a wide spectrum of both acute illnesses and chronic conditions.
Same Day Appointments
Acute illness and injuries happen. We make every effort to get our patients an appointment on the day they want to be seen. If you request a same-day appointment for yourself or your family, we will do our best to get you in on the day you need care. Our practice is unique in that we have the ability to see you through scheduled same day appointments, and if none is available, to see you through our urgent care center. We will always be here to take care of you, when you need us to be.
If you are seen at an emergency room for a non-life-threatening problem without having obtained a referral from your PCP in advance, your insurance plan may not pay for the visit. Most insurance plans do not allow retroactive referrals. Your insurance plan determines what it will reimburse.
Preventive care is critical for ensuring your health and we take that very seriously. We perform routine physicals, well men and woman care, well child care and sports physicals. During these types of visits, we focus on our patient’s general wellness. Our providers will obtain a thorough history, provide a comprehensive exam, and provide cancer, osteoporosis and other routine and recommended screenings. We also provide ongoing care and management for various medical conditions. Our providers are experienced and well-versed in the management of diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, pulmonary disease such as asthma and emphysema, skin disorders, gastrointestinal disorders and many other ongoing health issues.

High Blood pressure
High blood pressure is a common condition in which the force of the blood against your artery walls is high enough that it may eventually cause health problems, such as heart disease.
Blood pressure is determined by the amount of blood your heart pumps and the amount of resistance to blood flow in your arteries. The more blood your heart pumps and the narrower your arteries, the higher your blood pressure.
You can have high blood pressure (hypertension) for years without any symptoms. Uncontrolled high blood pressure increases your risk of serious health problems, including heart attack and stroke.
High blood pressure typically develops over many years, and it affects nearly everyone eventually. Fortunately, high blood pressure can be easily detected. And once you know you have high blood pressure, you can work with your doctor to control it.
In general, you must be evaluated properly by AFC Family Care physician for any problem before you will be referred to a specialist. Please consult your insurance plan for exceptions to this rule. If you do not have your referral in advance, your insurance plan may reduce the payment or may not pay for the specialty services.
We ask that you bring all prescription medication(s) with you to your appointment, even if it was prescribed by another physician. Please request all refills of continuous medicines during your appointment.
In the event that you require a prescription refill prior to your next appointment, please contact your pharmacy first and they will contact our office for a refill approval.
